I came across this post that I had written on my other blog when our children were going through some difficult trials. I was blessed all over again as I read the encouraging thoughts and notes that came from fellow believers. I felt so blessed and tears were streaming down my face as I thanked the Lord for the blessing of friends who have upheld us in prayer! The World can call it a crutch if they want; I call it leaning on the Lord Jesus Christ, the everlasting arms. What do they have to lean on?
Here is the original post:
I really wanted to save all the little notes of encouragement that people have sent while going through these few trials that the Lord has allowed. It is such a blessing to know that others care are upholding you in prayer. If nothing else these trials have reminded me of the importance to pray one for another. How we need our Christian Brethren! We never know what another one might be going through. How often I have been quick to judge another rather than uphold that person in prayer. May the Lord help me to not be like Job’s friends, but instead to be a friend who encourages and prays. I have saved all my little notes and listed them below. What an encouragement! How about you? What encourages you when facing a trial or a hardship? I hope you will take time to share.
Prayer Changes Things
As a parent, more than anything I wanted my children to come to know Christ and now as a grandparent, I feel the same about my grandchildren. I am thrilled that many of our 16 grandchildren have already placed their faith in Christ as their own personal Savior. While daily desiring this and continually presenting the gospel to them, I would often wonder, do they understand? Are they ready? But God can even lead the little ones. We cannot play God in their lives, but only trust Him.
My husband and I have been reading a book together called Rescue the Captors by Russell Stendal. I laughed out loud when we read about this man's conversion as a child. It was so exciting and such Simple child faith. He just took God at His Word. Here is what He says:
M y father was a civil engineer in charge of large construction projects in Minnesota. By the time I was two years old, I had learned to talk fluently. I was a fast developing kid and always seemed to be one jump ahead of my parents. My mom spent a lot of time reading me Bible stories and teaching me about God. Being an inquisitive child, one day I asked, “Mommy, where does God live?” My mother thought for a moment before replying, “God lives in heaven but He can also live in peoples’ hearts.” I asked, “Does He live in your heart?” Mother said, “Yes.” I asked, “Does He live in Daddy’s heart?” Mother said, “Yes, God lives in Daddy’s heart too.” I asked next about Stuart and Eleanor, who were friends of my parents. My mother answered that yes, God lived in their hearts too. Then I asked about Dennis and Terry, the sons of Stuart and Eleanor Watson. My mother said that while she was sure that God lived in Dennis’ heart, she wasn’t sure about Terry. He was even younger than I was. She explained that in order for God to come into a person’s heart, that person has to ask Him in. I thought about that for a minute and then asked, “Does He live in my heart?” My mom started getting a little flustered at this point because she thought I was still a little too young to handle such deep spiritual matters. She replied that when I was older, I could ask God to come into my heart too. At this point I climbed down off of her lap and knelt beside the bed. I prayed in a loud voice, “Come into my heart, Jesus. Come into my heart, God.” Then I stood up and jumped up and down exclaiming, “He’s in there!” My mother was flabbergasted.
Can a Child be saved? Yes yes yes! They can and many of them get saved at early ages because they believe God and take Him at His Word. They simply turn from their own ways and put their trust fully in Christ to save them from sin.
So pray pray pray for your children, and then believe God to answer. And when that moment comes for your child or grandchild to trust in Jesus, don't discourage him, but believe just as he has.
Luke 18:15-17 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

Addie, our granddaughter had been thinking a lot about being baptized since she was recently saved. She decided to have a talk with the pastor about it.
Addie: Pastor Camp, I need to talk to you.
Pastor: What do you want to talk about Addie?
Addie: I want to be baptized.
Pastor: When do you want to be baptized?
Addie: As soon as my parents get their act together!
Here is another one.
One Sunday Addie came to church with her hair still a little damp. The dampness was causing her natural curls to come out more. Our Preacher’s wife noticed it and commented to her.
Mrs. Camp: Addie, I like your curly hair
Addie: I don’t like it.
Mrs. Camp: Why don’t you like it?
Addie: Because then I look like Nellie Olson
Should We or Shouldn't We?
We asked ourselves this question for a while. I kept telling my husband he could do it. But he said no he can not. There is much more to it than just doing it, he would tell me. Little did I know. :) We kept talking about starting our own business and even went to a class in order to get help in getting started. HA! The class only confirmed in our minds that it would be impossible and we could never make it. After all, you had to have money to start a business and a plan and so many other things and we really did not want to get a loan.
Now Is the Time!
Finally we knew it was time! The Lord confirmed it in our hearts and minds. I can't really say why or what. We just knew. It is so important to stay in touch with the Lord on a daily basis and to not run ahead of Him. He knows what is best; He has a plan for all of us and His timing is perfect. It was time to step down from his full time job where he did daily maintenance at a Christian college and step out on our own. We took that step of faith; my husband resigned from his job and we were on our way. He started His own HVAC business. He had actually worked in this field for years, maintaining and repairing at the college as well as helping others on the side. He had already taken his state test and received his license so he was prepared in some ways. But could we make it?
WELL, let me tell you . . .
It Is Amazing
God has done and continues to do exceeding, abundantly above all that we ask or think.
Is it Really Worth all the Hassle?
Often people don't realize what really goes into running your own business. I never did! As a result, lots of times people just don't understand.
As we go I am learning lessons.
Would we do it again?
Definitely! As long as we knew the Lord was in it! So my friend, if you are contemplating starting a business, please do not run ahead of the Lord. When it is time, He will let you know. When it is time, He will guide and provide.
Many Years ago, when I was a teenager, we had a very special Christmas, probably the most memorable one for me. Money was scarce and it was decided that there would not be presents this year except the presence of each others company (our immediate family and my aunt's immediate family) We were the ones who usually spent Christmas together each year. Everyone was to contribute in some way, a reading, a poem, a story, a testimony, a song, or whatever they could come up with. This was such a wonderful Christmas! As I contemplated what to do some words came into my head that I put together as a poem about the true meaning of Christmas. You are welcome to read it for yourself in the document below. And MERRY CHRISTMAS. You can have Christmas in your heart every day if you know it's true meaning; The Christ of the manger is the Christ of the Cross. You Can Know Him! Here's How.
"To be grateful is to recognize the love of God in everything He has given us -- and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His love, every moment of existence is a grace, for it brings with it immense graces from Him."
My God, who can be your God too, provides our needs over and over again. Not only does He provide our needs, but He does exceeding abundantly above all that I could ever even ask or think.
Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Two years ago the Lord revealed to us that it was time for my husband to go in business for himself. This was a scary move as we surely did not have lots of money in the bank nor did we want any loans. But we knew this was of the Lord.
Today, nearly two years later, we can certainly say that the Lord provides and He does so over and above our expectations.
Since my husband is in the hvac business he always has lots of equipment. Our backyard and small shed and garage and another small building which he rents stay filled up. We were in need of another building. Little did we know how God would provide for that.
One night in the summer of 2012, we were awakened suddenly by very strong urgent knocks on our door. Someone was there to warn us that our little shed was on fire! You can read the story here. Our insurance covered the contents of the building and the worth of the building. We were thankful for that. We put the money aside and went on with business as usual. Needless to say, now that we had no shed, the equipment was building up. My husband had looked into the cost of a building, but they were pretty high, more than what our insurance paid. Recently, while talking with a friend he was told of someone who put up metal buildings at a very reasonable cost. It was just in our price range. The building went up quickly and we now have a large metal building which cost only $2.09 more than what the insurance co. gave us, with no extra debt and no loans! We are so grateful! God is good!
And You, how has the Lord provided for you over and above your expectations? The very first provision that God has given to all of us is more and way beyond what any of us deserve. But praise the Lord He has provided the way of eternal life which is only through Jesus Christ our Lord. Do you know Him?
What will your window of time be?
Three years ago my mother-in-law was in an accident. She accidentally forgot to put her car in park when she left it running in her driveway as she ran to retrieve something from the house that she had forgotten. Upon returning, she began to get back into the car and it started rolling backwards. As she attempted to jump in and step on the brake, she was caught by the car door, was drug backwards and run over. She was seriously injured and could have easily died. God in His mercy spared her life. She was told she may never walk again, but once again, God in His mercy raised her up and she was walking again in less than a year. She now relays this story:
As I was trying to stop the car, I heard the Lord say to get away now, get out of the way, but instead of listening, I kept trying to "save my car". As a result, I was run over and badly injured. She says, I believe that God gives us a window of time and it is up to us to listen to the Spirit of God and obey His voice or we may lost that window of time or opportunity. We never know how long that time may be; it may be a few seconds or a long time, therefore we should obey immediately, leaving the results to God.
May I ask a question? What is your window of time today? Is it worth the gamble to do things your own way, knowing not what may happen if you don't avail yourself of the window of time that God has given you? Are you listening to the Spirit's voice and obeying? Are you heaping up treasures here on earth rather than laying up treasure in heaven? Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Christian Friend, this applies to us too. What if I gain all the treasures that earth has to offer? True I may be saved and have an eternal home in heaven, but I have lost all because I have not stored up treasure in heaven. Matthew 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Psalms 25:4 Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.
May I redeem the time for the Lord's sake today paying attention to the window of time or opportunity that He has given me.
Ephesians 5:15-17 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
And non Christian Friend, don't wait, thinking that your window of time will last until your death bed. 2 Corinthians 6:2 . . . behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
Don't let your window of time slip away. This could be your last day.
I recently read this tract and wanted to share it - courtesy of Moments With the Book.
This is a story that I posted once before. Sometimes we may face discouragement and we need God to do something special just for us. Read on.
This is Miracle
Miracle has a name that fits. Let me tell you why. First of all, Miracle’s mama died when he was two days old. He had to be nursed along and as you can see he survived! That definitely was a miracle! But Miracle’s name also fits for another reason. That reason has to do with the following true story.
