This is a story that I posted once before. Sometimes we may face discouragement and we need God to do something special just for us. Read on.
This is Miracle
Miracle has a name that fits. Let me tell you why. First of all, Miracle’s mama died when he was two days old. He had to be nursed along and as you can see he survived! That definitely was a miracle! But Miracle’s name also fits for another reason. That reason has to do with the following true story.
My Past Week in Review
We continue to have rain almost daily. I am thankful that it has not been non stop rain. Usually a thunderstorm in the afternoon. I enjoy taking pictures of clouds and lately we have had some interesting ones. We were sitting on the porch at the beginning of the week enjoying these along with the pretty moon.
We also enjoyed some beautiful sunsets this past week. God paints like one one else can.
Oh, the storms! Every afternoon it seems we get a thunderstorm. We are grateful that even the wind and the waves obey the Lord! He is in control. The rain came in such heavy torrents with strong winds. There were many trees down in different neighborhoods and I think the rain dumped about 4 inches in our yard in about 20 minutes.
Company's Comin' !!!! Well, they aren't really company, but family. My son and his family are returning from Brazil for furlough so we just got done getting the guest room ready for them and their three children. They will be in and out for a few months while they travel to other family members and to supporting churches. We are so excited about them getting here!
We also enjoyed the company of their co-workers, The Schrocks. They too are home on furlough.
While out on Saturday we saw a few trees that had been uprooted by last week's storm.
At the same time we took the above picture we saw a deer running across the field beside it. We managed to get a quick shot of him too.
I have been checking out coffee substitutes for my hubby since he can't drink coffee due to reflux. This sample arrived in the mail on Saturday. It was really quite good. Check out my review on it here.
Our oldest son just started a new church to reach our inner city, a much needed ministry. This is a couple that has been coming regularly and you can also see some other visitors that came this past week. In fact we had many visitors for which we were grateful. We are hoping to reach many with the gospel of Jesus Christ. He alone offers life to the fullest!
My husband is not able to drink coffee due to reflux. I have been searching some options for him and received this coffee substitute sample in the mail this past week. It really had a good taste and I have already ordered a bag. The price was reasonable and it was very easy to order. Along with the sample and directions I also received the following information on the product.
While Reading through Luke 18, the story of the blind man brought many thoughts and applications to my own life.
Open my eyes, that I may see
If truth is not undergirded by love,
it makes the possessor of that truth obnoxious and the truth repulsive.
Do You Have a Prayer Closet?
Recently I have been convicted about spending specific time with God in prayer. I pray and I pray often. The Bible does say to pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing. Prayer is a pretty common thing for me to do throughout the day and I am thankful that I can go to the throne of grace at any time night or day and can go boldly to ask for help in the time of need. God is always there to hear and answer. And oh how merciful He is! Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
But what about that certain place that I go to daily to pray. I needed one. I sit at my desk each morning to have devotions, but would often get distracted as I tried to pray - you know just every day things - emails, kitchen duties, phone calls, to do list, hubby needing something, etc. As I was thinking about it, God said just go into your closet and pray. Now I know not everyone can do this, but I am privileged to have a closet big enough to add a chair and to sit down in the quiet away from all distractions and focus just on praying. It has helped so much! And I am learning to love this certain place. Across from my chair is a cabinet to which I taped several verses on prayer that I can focus on during this time. Beside me on a shelf I keep my prayer list that I can refer to and update if needed. Love it!
Luke 11:1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
What about you? Do you have a "certain place" to pray every day?
I know that July is now half over and here I am just getting June's picture collage done. June was a full month as you can see from the collage below and that is not half the pictures, just a few selected ones. Highlights of the month include a couple of mountain day trips, fun time with grand kids, Father's Day and the start of City Baptist Church which will be included in a separate post. I am thankful for my family and my 14 and a half grand kids. Yes, number 15 is due in November. God is good!
